Variety of salads

Salads. My favourite. They are healthy, easy to prepare, inexpensive and tasty to the boot.

What’s not to love about salads? Here are some of the salads I’ve either bought or prepared myself…

Carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, artichokes, avocado, rocket leaves and peri-peri chicken dressing

Black olives, spinach base, artichokes, flat green beans with a ginger and lemon dressing

This one turned a bit to citus-y, but the ingredients were: onion, gherkin, tomatoes, ham slices, cucumber with cheddar cheese strips on top

    • Foods which bring up the calorie count…carbs and fatty foods unless you’re aiming for a salad which also contains those food groups. What would you say?

Hmm … True but are there any names ? I can only think of cucumbers , carrots , radish , leaves ……

      • I personally do not like to add rice/ pasta/ cous cous to my salads. In terms of protein, chicken and white fish are better than lamb or other red meats. Salad dressings also contain mayonnaise and can be highly calorific. Since my salads tend to be the smaller meal of the day, I try to stick to protein only salads so yes the list you mentioned is better than say a a salad containing only nuts, avocado! Celery, peppers, green beans are all good options. Chickpeas and sweet corn tend to be higher carbohydrate value but it all depends on personal taste and the type of meal you intend to prepare 🙂
